MG will launch four new models in 2024.
MG intends to continue riding the wave of success it is currently experiencing in France and Europe. The Chinese manufacturer expects to deliver more than 210,000 units in Europe in 2023, representing a doubling of its 2022 volume, itself already doubled compared to 2021. A success to be credited in particular to the MG 4, the compact sedan which is very successful in all markets thanks to its undeniable road qualities associated with an aggressive price. This success should be further reinforced with the arrival of versions with a long range Electric Trophy Extended Range which promises a range of 520 km, but also with the sports version which revives the XPower badge with its 435 horses. The MG HS and its restyled EHS plug-in hybrid version are also expected imminently in dealerships.
This offensive will continue in 2024, with the arrival of the Cyberster, the brand’s first electric roadster since its takeover by the Chinese giant SAIC, which will relive the legend of the small English roadsters. Finally “small”, not quite, since it is 4.54 m long. And especially its weight should be around two tons. But it will be able to count on a power expected at more than 500 horsepower to give wings to the most powerful version, although the definitive European technical characteristics will not be known until next week, when the Munich Motor Show opens.
Expected for next summer, the Cyberster will be just one of four new models that MG plans to launch in the course of 2024. From the first half of the year, we will see a city car from segment B arrive. A model that will come to position itself in front of the horde of small “cheap” electric city cars that Citroën, Renault, Fiat or Volkswagen promise us, because there will be no doubt that this small MG will be positioned with an aggressive price.
Later will also come a “luxury” SUV, with which MG intends to compete with the Tesla Model Y, Audi Q4 e-Tron, Volkswagen ID.4 and other tenors of the upper C category in electric.
Finally, the brand promises a new model built on the MG4 platform, which uses a new generation platform as a reminder. The details have not yet officially leaked, but it could be a break body of the Chinese compact, which would advantageously replace the current MG5 with much more up-to-date technology.
