Briggs Automotive Company has unveiled the new BAC Mono, a road-legal single-seat supercar that sprints from 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds.
Imagined by the British at Briggs Automotive Company, the BAC Mono is a formidable single-seater sports car, which returns this year with a brand new version, inspired by the BAC Mono R, on the occasion of the recent Monterey Car Week.
“The launch of the new Mono supercar at Monterey Car Week perfectly sums up BAC’s brilliant trajectory”said Mike Flewitt, president of BAC (Briggs Automotive Company): “Not only is this the company’s first time officially participating in Monterey Car Week, but we’ve chosen this iconic setting to show the world our latest high-performance single-seater creation; a development that forms the basis of BAC’s core product offering as it continues to expand worldwide. Mono puts the driver’s experience first, whether that experience is on the road or on the track. »
Under the hood, we find a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine, which develops no less than 320 horsepower and 313 Nm of torquetransmitted to the rear wheels via a sequential six-speed gearbox: enough to swallow the 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds ! These impressive performances are linked to its featherweight of 570 kg, which allows it to display a remarkable weight/power ratio of 1.78 kg/hp.
A series of improvements have been implemented, including forged connecting rods and pistons, performance-oriented camshafts, improved valve springs, an aero-optimized carbon fiber intake system, an remote filtration and a new carbon airbox. Weight distribution is 41% front and 59% rear, enhancing the car’s agility.
BAC derives its engines from its partnership with Ford : next year, a turbocharged version of the BAC Mono will be launched, with an adaptation of the engine 2,3 litres EcoBoost which notably equips the Ford Focus ST. Enough to improve the performance of its ultralight supercar, while allowing it to be marketed in markets that are more attentive to CO2 emissions, such as France.
Another partnership, this time with Pirellimakes it possible to offer on the BAC Mono a range of tires adapted to all customer needs: a Trofeo R tire specifically developed for the Mono, or even slick and rain tire options.
Orders for the new BAC Mono are already open, at prices which have not been disclosed, but which should be around 200,000 euros. Production of the new BAC Mono has already started at the company’s headquarters in Liverpool, UK, and the first deliveries are expected for the start of the 2023 school year.
