Jaguar XJ: a new 100% electric generation in 2025

The Jaguar XJ has not said its last word! A new 100% electric generation should see the light of day by 2025, to stand up to its German rivals.

According to the information revealed by our British colleagues fromAutocara new generation of the sedan Jaguar XJ should see the light of day from here 2025 : this time, it will be 100% electricmore luxurious and larger, and will have to face the BMW i7 and other Mercedes-Benz EQS.

This new premium sedan will be part of the Jaguar’s new rangewhich will also include a large all-electric SUV, as well as a four-seater electric 4-door coupe.

Jaguar XJ: ultra-fast electric charging

These three new electric models will be equipped with a all-wheel driveof steering rear wheels as well as compatibility with ultra-fast charging, which will recover 80% autonomy in just 13 minutes.

According to the first information that has leaked, the electric motorization of these new models would develop a power ofat least 450 horsepower, enough to swallow the 0 to 100 km / h in 3 to 3.8 seconds, for a maximum speed of 250 km / h. With a full charge of the battery, the autonomy would be between 620 and 760 km, at least.

A completely new design

Aesthetically, the future Jaguar XJ will adopt the brand new design language, both indoors and outdoors. One of the most striking details according to Autocar lies in the removal of the badges of the mark, to adopt a new lettering “Jaguar” as well at the front as at the back, but especially the rear window removal which will be replaced by a rear-view camera, like the Polestar 5.

The next Jaguar XJ, as well as the new range of 100% electric models from the British brand, will be launched from the year 2025. These newcomers will completely replace the current range, including the 100% electric Jaguar I-Pace which will soon retire. According to Jaguar Design Director Gerry McGovern, their replacements would be totally different.

Launched in 1968, the Jaguar XJ is an essential model of the Coventry firm: the current generation of the large high-end sedan, marketed since 2010, was withdrawn from the catalog in 2019, without being replaced immediately. The arrival of its new 100% electric version by 2025 should then correct this gap in the range.
