Since 2017, the Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain offers an adventurous alternative to customers of the Mercedes E-Class estate, with a look inspired by SUVs. Today, the German manufacturer presents at the Munich fair its latest opus of the E-Class All-Terrain, declination of the new generation of the E-Class, recently unveiled.
We always find a distinctive stylewith a specific front bumper with an SUV-style double-blade grille, dark gray wheel arch extensions, underbody protections, 18-inch wheels, or even a more robust rear bumper.
The trunk opening is distinguished by a stainless steel loading sill protector, while inside there is an AMG stainless steel sports pedal set, as well as floor mats with an All-Terrain logo. Side loading capacity, count from 615 to 1,830 liters of trunk, and 460 to 1,675 liters on the plug-in hybrid model.
As standard, we find on the Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain the 4Matic all-wheel drive, as well as Airmatic air suspension to increase ground clearance. With an all-terrain driving mode, the model does not promise large crossing capacities but to evolve in complete safety on rough terrain such as dirt roads.
Various technologies are present, such as the “transparent cover” which is part of the 360° camera, and which facilitates maneuvers in the event of poor visibility. There Airmatic air suspension automatically lowers the ground clearance by 15 mm when speed reaches 120 km/h, to reduce air resistance and improve fuel efficiency.
Under the hood, the model offers the choice between three engines : diesel, petrol and plug-in hybrid. Variants diesel (E 220 d – 197 horsepower) and essence (E 450 – 381 horsepower) turbocharged are mild hybrids, featuring a new battery and a 23 horsepower electric motor and an additional 205 Nm of electric torque.
The plug-in hybrid engine (E 300 de) offers an electric power of 129 horsepower, a maximum electric torque of 440 Nm, as well as a 100% electric range of up to 100 kilometers, according to the WLTP cycle. It is possible to drive in electric mode up to 140 km/h.
