While waiting for the 4 new features promised by MG for 2024, it is the HS and EHS SUVs that are making the news by receiving a complete restyling of their front end.
MG is enjoying insolent success in Europe. During the first half of 2023, the brand has already sold more cars than in the whole of last year. A success that is of course to be credited to the MG4, the tightly priced electric compact, which is driving sales up. While waiting for the four novelties announced by the brand next year, including the Cyberster roadster that visitors to the last Festival of Speed in Goodwood, England, have already been able to appreciate in action.
However, the Sino-British manufacturer does not forget its other current models. So is it the turn of the EHS SUV, and its HS thermal version offered on certain markets, to go through the restyling box? A restyling whose first image had leaked last spring, and which is now confirmed with imminent marketing.
In fact, this first image already revealed everything there was to know about this facelift. The front face is indeed the only one affected. Completely transformed, it is characterized by an unprecedented wider grille, a completely redesigned shield, new headlights, and a new light signature. In fact, this (E)HS looks like a Ford Kuga or a Ford Focus at first glance. At the American manufacturer, we must appreciate moderately. But one thing is certain, this new design brings a real change to the model and should allow him to calmly face the second part of his career.
On the other hand, MG has concentrated all of its forces and resources on this front face alone. The rest does not evolve, except for the slightly dusted rear bumper in the corners. Note also the new rims.
On board is the multimedia system with a facelift. A good thing as the old one was slow and awkward to use. Hopefully the new one will show better responsiveness. And the customer can opt for full red upholstery covering the seat, the central armrest and the door panels.
Under the hood, nothing to report. The MG HS is still sold in France in its only EHS version with 258 horsepower plug-in hybrid engine allowing to travel up to 52 km WLTP on electric power alone. CO2 emissions are therefore contained at 43 g/km. In other European countries, it is also offered with a 1.5l Turbo petrol engine of 162 hp leaving the choice of transmission between a six-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic.
