BYD Seal (2023): Tesla Model 3 rival prices revealed

The Chinese electric sedan arrives in France with a base price of 46,990 euros, a few thousand euros more than the Tesla Model 3.

After the Dolphin and the Atto 3, BYD is beginning the marketing of its third model, a rather high-end sedan responsible for competing with the Tesla Model 3. If we already knew its technical characteristics, there was still one unknown: its prices. .

It’s now done, since the Chinese brand has announced that the Seal is making its debut in France. from 46,990 euros. The breakdown of the range is rather simple, since the “first price” concerns the rear-wheel drive version of 313 hp and 570 km.

The four-wheel drive version of 530 hp and 520 km of autonomy claims 49 990 euros. Note that the manufacturer offers a six-year warranty on its sedan.

A big difference compared to the Tesla Model 3?

We obviously cannot ignore the comparison with the new Tesla Model 3. The American remains cheaper, with a starting price set at 42,990 euros, excluding bonuses. The BYD Seal propulsion is the only one to benefit from the ecological bonus of 5,000 euros (or 7,000 euros, depending on income).

There is therefore 4,000 euros difference between the two models, a difference which is generally justified by the slightly more “upscale” side of the Seal, with a quality of manufacture which has nothing to envy to some European premium models.

On the other hand, for the model above, the BYD Seal is less expensive. The Tesla Model 3 Grande Autonomie, which is, of course, announced between 629 to 678 km (depending on the size of the rims), starts from 50,990 euros, or 1,000 euros more than the BYD Seal of 530 hp. The two models are not affected by the ecological bonus in France.
