While waiting for its official presentation, the new generation of Škoda Superb shows itself, still camouflaged, on these new teaser photos of the sedan version.
This fall, the Czech manufacturer will unveil the fourth generation of the Skoda Superb, along with the new generation of its Kodiaq SUV. Škoda’s flagship will, like the current opus, be available as a station wagon as well as a hatchback.
To help us wait, after rolling the future Superb station wagon in the Tour de France this summer, the firm from Mladá Boleslav is now broadcasting photos of the new Škoda Superb, this time in a sedan version, equipped with a graphic camo which however leaves its lines to be guessed. This new version has gained in length and height, while retaining its typical style and improving its aerodynamics.
Compared to the current generation, the new Skoda Superb sedan will be 43 mm larger in length, to reach 4.91 meters, and 12 mm in height, to reach 1.48 meters. This slight growth increases the space on board, with an improved roof guard of 11 mm at the front and 6 mm at the rear. The width of the vehicle (1.83 meters) and the wheelbase (2.84 meters) remain the same.
As for the trunk, its volume is also up by 20 litres, to reach 645 liters. If the camouflage present on this prototype still masks the style of the car, we can guess that it will retain rather sober lines, in line with the Škoda style. The manufacturer specifies that the aerodynamics have been improved, with optimized air intakes, as well as meticulous work on the bodywork and the exterior mirrors: the drag coefficient is displayed at only 0.24.
The fourth-generation Superb features for the first time a motorisation mild-hybrid : the four-cylinder petrol 1.5 TSI 150 hp will be supplemented by a 48-volt lithium-ion battery. Other engines will also be there: 2.0 TSI with 204 hp and 265 hp, as well as the 2.0 TDI diesel with 150 hp and 193 hp. All these engines are associated with a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
Inside, there will be a stand-alone 13-inch central screen, complete with a head-up display and three new smart rotary knobs, each with a 32mm-diameter digital display. The center console will be more spacious and equipped with new storage, thanks to the shifting of the gear lever to the right of the steering wheel, on the steering column.
The Active, Ambition and Style trim levels will be replaced by new finishes : Essence, Selection, Sportline et Laurin & Klement. The Czech manufacturer will reveal more information on the future Superb before its official presentation, still awaited for this fall 2023.
