Dacia wants to make map updates easier

Dacia has partnered with NNG to allow its customers to make map updates to the Media Nav system directly from their smartphone.

If you have a on-board GPS navigation system in your car, it is not always easy to be able to update your map, an operation that is nevertheless essential to have the most recent GPS maps, as well as other functionalities such as up-to-date points of interest, or the location of radars and danger zones. Indeed, according to manufacturers, it is necessary to use a specific CD or USB key to update your GPS mapping, and the operation is sometimes tedious.

Dacia wished simplify this process for its users, and has partnered with NNG, a specialist in GPS navigation and infotainment systems, to offer a simple way to perform map updates to its on-board GPS navigation system, using a smartphone .

More practical map updates

Easy to use, theapplication pour smartphone Dacia Map Update allows the brand’s customers to select, purchase or download the latest versions of maps from different regions of the world, directly to their mobile devices.

Then simply connect your phone to the multimedia system using a USB cable, open the Dacia Map Update application, and download the desired maps directly to the Dacia Media Nav system. Updates now take 15 minutes, which represents a real time saving compared to the previous method, which required the use of a computer and a USB key.

The first updates free for 3 years

The first 6 updates are free, up to two updates per year for 3 years. At the end of this 3-year period, the customer will be able to purchase only the cards they wish to update in their vehicle.

The Dacia Map Update smartphone application is now downloadable from the Google Play Store for devices running Android, and will soon be available on the Apple App Store for devices running iOS.

The mapping update functionality using this smartphone application is compatible with Dacia vehicles equipped with a Media Nav system and having the Android Auto function.
