After 12 failed tests, he sends a double to take his place

Some people show a extraordinary perseverance when it comes to getting your driving license. This is the exceptional case of a South Korean sexagenarian who had failed more than 900 theoretical and practical exams. Other aspiring drivers are less patient. Unless they simply get discouraged much more quickly than others. This time it is Serge’s storya Ghanaian living in the town of Grammont (in Belgium) who deserves to be noted. As told La Libre Belgique, this man cannot find a job. The problem ? He doesn’t have a license.

Repeated failures in the theoretical driving test

The solution to his problem may seem simple: obtain the driving license. In fact, he already has a license issued in his native country. But this is not recognized in Belgium. However, he failed in each of his attempts at the theoretical driving test in Flanders (where the town of Grammont is located). At the twelfth failure, he decided to change strategy.

Unlike the sixty-year-old South Korean, Serge did not try to persevere to pass the theoretical exam for the Belgian driving license. Instead, he came up with the idea ofsend a lookalike in its place. He found the latter in the person of Julien, a man of Congolese origin. The idea seemed good, especially since Julien has a European driving license. A priori, he should therefore be able to take the exam without any difficulty.

A case brought before Belgian justice

Julien, Serge’s double, did not go to Flanders to take the theoretical driving test. The two men planned for him to try his luck in Mons, in Wallonia. Apparently, they thought that the French-speaking inspectors were less strict than the Flemish ones. Except that one of the inspectors present in Mons realizes that something is wrong when Julien appeared before him.

If Julien and Serge look alike, this inspector was not fooled. He discovered the subterfuge by noticing physical differences between the two men in their faces. A complaint was then filed for forgery, use of forgery and attempted fraud. « Without the vigilance of this person, he would have received his license, even though he is not capable of driving on our roads”, spoke the deputy of the king’s prosecutor on this matter. The judgment has still not been rendered. But Serge’s lawyer assures that he now has the possibility of finding a job which does not require a permit.
