Car-free day in Paris: meet on September 17

On September 17, the 9th car-free day will take place in Paris. We explain everything you need to know.

For many years now, Paris City Hall has wanted to eliminate cars from the streets of the capital. For this, all means are good, such as the removal of lanes on the banks, the installation of the Crit’Air sticker or even excessive pedestrianization. Only taxis, VTCs and emergency vehicles will be authorized, but at a maximum speed of 30 km/h. Buses will also be allowed to travel, but again at a reduced speed.

If you live in Paris and you have to travel by car in the capital that day, you will need a proof of address and above all a good reason. In fact, only urgent travel will be tolerated, such as a medical problem or childbirth. Parisians returning from the weekend will also have to prove that they live in the area concerned. In case of non-compliance, drivers face a fine of 135 euros. Suffice to say that it will be better to comply with the rules…
