According to specialists, the price of fuel is likely to remain very high and is not expected to fall for a long time.
When will this situation finally calm down? Well it seems that this is not yet happening yet. In fact, the latter has lasted for many months, while the increase had started with the war in Ukraine, which still continues today. The reason is the drop in Russian oil production, as well as the embargo put in place by our government. Added to this is also the fall in exports from other oil-producing countries, as well as the increase in demand. Not to mention punitive taxes, which represent around 60% of the price of a liter of gasoline and diesel. Suffice to say that this explosive cocktail does not bode well.
The French are penalized by disruptions in the supply of service stations.

In fact, it is better not to expect prices to fall immediately, quite the contrary. Indeed, unleaded 98 currently costs around 2 euros per liter everywhere in France, on average. And the diesel is barely lower, like the SP95. But will it ever fall? No doubt, but not right away. In any case, this is what energy specialist Thierry Bros explains. The latter emphasizes that “we must expect persistently high oil prices, in a range between 85 and 95 dollars per barrel. Currently we are in the middle of the range“. Suffice to say that the increase should continue.
The cause of this increase is therefore the increase in the price of a barrel of oil, but the government is hitting distributors, accused of having too large a margin. The latter then refuses to put in place any discounts, despite requests from motorists. For now, we must therefore make do with commercial operations set up by service stations directly. And fortunately there are a few at the moment, notably at TotalEnergies.
