Stellantis organizes a recall campaign on its BlueHDi diesel engine

If you own a Peugeot or Citroën equipped with a BlueHDi diesel engine, this article should interest you. We’ll explain it to you.

Recall campaigns are commonplace in the automotive industry, and have been for many years now. But what is it about? In fact, it is very simple. When a brand notices a problem which concerns many cars and which is not the fault of the drivers but of the design, they organize this type of operation. Therefore, owners must take their car to the garage to have it repaired, at the manufacturer’s expense. And everyone can be affected, both luxury brands and more mainstream brands. After Ford, Kia or even Ferrariit’s once again Stellantis’ turn.

A great reminder

Indeed, the French group has just implemented a major recall campaign in Europe due to a problem with one of its engines. This is the BlueHDi diesel unit, which has been fitted to Peugeot and Citroën cars, but also DS, Fiat and Opel for several years. It has been many months since concerns were raised, but the French group had never really admitted it. So that’s done. But what exactly is this problem? Well the latter concerns the engine control management software, which can prevent the ignition of one of the malfunction indicators. This is the one that indicates that the urea injector is not operational.

600,000 cars

In total, these are not no less than 600,000 cars who would not be affected by this problem. Among them, the Citroën C3, C4 and C5 Aircross as well as the Peugeot 208? DS 7 Crossback and other Opel Corsas. The motorists concerned will be contacted directly by the manufacturers in order to have their car repaired at the dealership. All obviously free, while the operation should be quite quick. So don’t panic if you are affected by this software problem.
