After its Mini EV which can boast of being the best-selling electric car in the world, Wuling is bringing its concept of miniature model to the utility segment: here is the new E10.
You may have missed this amazing statistic: the best-selling electric car in the world is not a Tesla but a Chinese mini city car: the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV. That the model is Chinese is not surprising in itself since we learned via a JATO study what nearly one in two electric cars sold in the world is Chinese, and that 60% of electric cars of all brands are produced in China. What is more surprising is that the best-selling model is not an SUV or a sedan, but a four-seater mini city car. Simple, functional, without superfluous equipment (and sophisticated safety equipment), it was a real hit.
Riding on this trend of mini electric cars designed and designed for the city, Wuling has applied this concept to utility vehicles: here is the new E10 ! This reduced-size cargo truck is riding the wave of kei-cars, very popular in Asia. It is models with modest dimensions and engines, designed to navigate the continent’s large metropolises, which are often extremely congested. In Europe and France, the already existing equivalents are at Piaggio (with the Porter) or at DFSK (with the EcoCity 31). Where the new Wuling innovates is that it is only 1.08m wide, and can only accommodate one person ! A really rikiki format, but undoubtedly very useful in the small arteries of Beijing…
With a capacity of 1.7 m2 and an authorized load of 200 kg, the little E10 does the job well. Its humble electric motor only develops 27 horses, for a maximum speed limited to 71 km/h. Enough to power the small 9 kWh battery, which provides approximately 150 kilometers of autonomy (Chinese cycle) in a single charge. But its main argument is indeed its price, which starts at only 4,600 euros in China. There is currently no indication that it will be distributed in Europe. But importers of these small models are multiplying on the Old Continent : the Mini EV is already imported by Freze as Nikrob EV, and in France it is SN Diffusion which imports several Chinese models. Enough to give them a new idea?
