Alfa Romeo Brennero: what does it have in store for us?

Where is Alfa Romeo heading? The Italian brand, today attached to Stellantiswas looking for a future before the FCA/PSA merger. She struggled to exist in this former Fiat/Chrysler group which focused primarily on promising general brands such as Fiat and Jeep. In difficulty, the brand renowned for its sports cars, coupes and convertibles. was in need of something new. The future of the brand was uncertain at the time of the merger, and all its aficionados – or car enthusiasts in general – were waiting for it around the corner.

Passion, always at the heart of Alfa’s DNA

The merger had implied a potential disappearance of Alfa Romeo or Lancia, for the benefit of DS for example, more dynamic. The Stellantis group finally decided to continue to deal with its two historic brands, but repositioning was necessary. Since then, the two brands have addressed a different vision of premium. Pour Lancia, Italian refinement and elegancepour Alfa passion and sportiness. A differentiation which will be especially visible in the coming years, when the two brands will have expanded their ranges with new products. Lancia should be more connected and technological, where Alfa Romeo boss Jean-Philippe Imparato refuses for the brand to do “an iPad with a car around it”. Passion and sport are therefore still at the heart of Alfa’s strategy!

Alfa Romeo’s electric premiere

But like other manufacturers, Alfa begins its long transformation towards 100% electric. The brand launched in 2022 a new plug-in hybrid SUV model, with the Tonale, little brother of Stelvio. The brand’s first model in six years! Following this strategy, it will decline its offer downward with a small urban SUV in 2024. Available in certain markets in thermal or rechargeable hybrid, it will be especially pushed here in 100% electric.

He will share his platform with the new Jeep Avenger, while its electric engine could include the 156 horsepower engine and the autonomy of 400 kilometers. We are already talking about a name: Brenner, that of a pass located between Italy and Switzerland. This futur crossover premium will play in the same slot as the Smart #1and internally at Stellantis that the DS 3 E-Tense. With a sportier touch typical of Alfa, of course…
