TotalEnergies will extend the cap on its fuels!

The situation has been going on for several months and is becoming more and more difficult for all French motorists. Indeed, since the start of summer, the price of fuel has increased significantly, particularly due to very high demand due to school holidays. And this even if many drivers have been forced to go less far, because of the increase in prices, but also those of tolls. But we must also not forget the impact of taxation, with taxes representing no less than 60% of the price of a liter of fuel.

Strong pressure

To help motorists cope with rising prices, TotalEnergies had taken the decision to cap those of its fuels at all its service stations. Thus, since February, gasoline and diesel have been limited to 1.99 euros everywhere in France. But that wasn’t enough for the government, which asked the company to extend this operation. The distributor then announced a cap until the end of the year, but this was not yet enough for the State. The latter demanded that the oil group go at least until 2024. It is now done!

Good news

In a press release, TotalEnergies announces that it will maintain this price limitation in all its stations in 2024. The company specifies that the latter will be valid “ as long as fuel prices remain high in the country“. The government no longer wants to make the slightest gesture for motorists, preferring instead to ask distributors to cut back on their margins. What Leclerc did in particular with its fuel at cost price during the summer.
