If the Volkswagen Golf 9 should not see the light of day right away, new information has just been given.
It has already been no less than 4 years since the current generation of the Volkswagen Golf was officially unveiled to the general public. The latter is distinguished in particular by a more refined style as well as reworked engines. On the other hand, no trace of electricity, although it leaves that to the ID.3. But that should change, as the manufacturer is already working on the next generation. However, this should not see the light of day immediately, since the German compact must already go through the restyling box. The latter should arrive soon, but the manufacturer is not yet very talkative on this subject at the moment.

However, this future generation, planned for 2028, is starting to distill some little information. And these come to us from a very reliable source, since it is Thomas Schäfer himself, the current boss of Volkswagen, who reveals them to us. The latter was in fact interviewed by the British site Autocar and spoke about the compact star. He then explains that the latter will decline only in electric version, and that there would no longer be the slightest thermal alternative under its hood. A radical change to say the least for the brand’s best-seller!
But that’s not all. Because this interview also allows us to learn that this new Golf will be based on the new SSP platform currently under development. The latter will then replace the MEB used on the current version. For the moment, we do not know more about the next version of the star of the brand, which should hunt in the lands of the Peugeot e-308, among others. Volkswagen plans to gradually phase out its thermal cars over the years.
