Ford updates its famous F-150 pickup

America’s most popular vehicle is getting a facelift at the Detroit Auto Show. Its bed is now more easy to access than ever while all its engines are gaining power, including the Raptor which exceeds 700 hp!

Ford took advantage of the Detroit Auto Show to update its most popular vehicle and the most sold throughout the world although it is only marketed in North America: the famous F-150. Okay, unfortunately Europe is not officially entitled to it. Too bad… But all the same, It’s not every day that such a famous vehicle benefits from a mid-career facelift. Small updates and new dumpster

Since we don’t change a winning team, Ford has hardly changed the style of its best-seller. At the front, a new grille, a reworked lighting signature and voila. Inside, the situation is similar. The F-150 receives some, but minimal, improvements in the form a digital instrument cluster and a 12-inch central screen. For the first time, the American pickup can also be equipped with an optional head-up display. At the rear, however, his dumpster finally hides something real new! The latter can now be equipped with a door capable of opening to 37, 70 or 100 degrees to facilitate access. Be aware, however, that the F-150 Lightning does not benefit from any of these modifications.

100% thermal

In addition to these few new features, the Ford F-150 also benefits from new engines. Like a good big American vehicle, the pick-up still only has 100% thermal units. It benefits from a series of V6 EcoBoost of 2.7 liters, 300 hp and 576 Nm. But it can also be equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 developing 400 hp or 430 hp as well as a 400 hp naturally aspirated V8. But that’s not all, oh no!

Platinum, Tremor and Raptor R exceeding 700 hp!

There is definitely an F-150 for everyone. Are you looking for luxury, comfort and refinement? Then the top-end Platinum variant is for you. Do you prefer to get off the beaten track? Ford has developed a Tremor finish dedicated to difficult conditions and ready for adventure. And then,If you simply want to have fun, there is the Raptor and its V6 with 450 hp and 691 Nm of torque or even outright Raptor R which is still gaining power! Ford has yet to release its full specifications, but the manufacturer has officially announced that it will exceed 700 horsepower. Indeed, we should be able to have fun with that.
