Bugatti presented a stripped-down version of its Bolide, a hypercar developed to meet FIA requirements for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Bugatti revealed details of its new hypercar on its official website, on September 11. It is actually a naked version of the Bugatti Bolide, a racing car that was presented in 2021 by the manufacturer. This model is reserved for driving on circuits and is expected for 2024.
Only 40 examples of the Bugatti Bolide are planned. However, the car will never be approved for the road. So, even if it means concentrating on the circuit, we might as well push the logic to the end. This is precisely what Bugatti did with its Bolide. She developed it following the specifications of categories LMH and LMDh for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
To be approved by the International Federation of Automobiles (FIA), Bugatti equipped the Bolide with a carbon fiber monocoque. According to the manufacturer, this monocoque was built using composites in carbon fiber of the highest quality “normally used only in Formula 1 and Le Mans racing cars”.
These are the photos of this monohull which were presented on last September 11. In addition, security tests have been successfully carried out. A first test consisted of checking the load that the vehicle can support. As a result, it is capable of supporting a load of 7.5 tonnes on amount A, of 12 tons on amount B and 6 tons for the C. Other tests focused on the possibility of the car experiencing fires and rollovers.

In its press release, Bugatti also revealed several details of the construction of the hypercar. First important detail: the manufacturer did not just recondition the Chiron chassis to create its Bolide. “If it’s comparable, it’s no longer Bugatti”, underlined the brand. In other words, it is not in his culture to use already existing configurations to create a new car.
Furthermore, it is equipped with a 8.0 liter V8 enginewhich develops no less than 1,578 horsepower. Despite the fact that this hypercar meets the FIA homologation criteria for the LMD and LMDh Le Mans races, it is unlikely to participate in these races. However, it is possible, or at least desirable, that Bugatti will use this car to create a hypercar capable of competing at Le Mans.
