Alfa Romeo is preparing a large sporty electric SUV

Alfa Romeo is currently developing a large sporty electric SUV, in response to the EU’s plan to ban the sale of thermal vehicles by 2035. The Italian firm, historically known for its combustion engine vehicles, is now actively working to enter the electric car market.

The upcoming electric SUV is part of Alfa Romeo’s ambitious plan to compete in the electric vehicle segment dominated by brands like Porsche, BMW, and Lotus. The new model, based on the STLA platform developed by the Stellantis group, is expected to offer high performance while optimizing energy efficiency with its lower design. The technical specifications, including the potential for up to three electric motors, are yet to be fully disclosed by the manufacturer.

Alfa Romeo has also been working on the development of several electric SUVs, including a compact model related to the 600e. However, details about the larger electric SUV, which aims to rival the likes of Porsche Cayenne and BMW iX, are still relatively scarce.
