A child accidentally damages a car while playing and insists on reimbursing the damage by giving all his pocket money.
The incident took place in China. A little boy unintentionally scratched a car in the residence’s parking lot while playing with a piece of wood. Filled with remorse, he insisted on leaving a note of apology in an envelope along with 50 yuan (approximately 6.50 euros) so that the owners could forgive him and repair the damage caused.
Even at a young age, children can demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility. This was evident in the actions of the boy who inadvertently damaged his neighbors’ car. Immediately, he wrote an apology letter and included his savings. The incident occurred on October 26 in China. Upon noticing the scratch, the vehicle owners stated in the local daily newspaper South China Morning Post: “It wasn’t a big deal, so we didn’t really pay attention to it.”
Upon leaving their home, the owners received the note from the residence’s security guard. It read: “Letter of apology: Yesterday I scratched your car with a wooden stick and I felt extremely guilty. Right now I only have 50 yuan. How much will it cost to repair your car? Can I pay in several installments? I’m sorry.”

Far from being upset, the owners smiled upon receiving the message. The owner explains: “After reading it, I couldn’t help but think it was funny and very cute of him. I then said to myself that he was very courageous, that he was willing to take responsibility for his mistake and that he was actively seeking a solution.”
The matter was resolved with the little boy and his neighbors did not hold it against him. They also returned the 50 yuan and explained to him that his honesty deserved a reward. What would you have done in the same situation?
