Finance law 2024: what does the government mean by “greening the vehicle fleet”?

With the 2024 finance bill, the government is aiming to green the automobile fleet. But what does this correspond to?

During the month of September 2023the council of ministers decided on the future finance bill, PLF.

This last will be implemented on January 1, 2024 and will be entitled to a budget of 1.5 billion euros.

But what does it mean the government by evoking a “greening of the vehicle fleet” ? Response elements.

Greening that involves 3 pillars

A the end of the month from September, the government presented the finance bill pour 2024.

L’ambition is clear: a greening of the vehicle fleet. For that, the ministers deployed a budget of 1.5 billion d’euros in 2024.

Ce budget will be used to establish several actions to reach the objective set. This is the case of the premium la conversion, which will be increased. But also, finance the ecological bonus or even social leasing of 100 euros to rent a new car.

Regarding the ecological bonusit’s no longer a secret but this will impact cars produced in China.

Indeed, the environmental score now takes into account carbon footprint from the construction of the car.

A 28% drop in emissions

What a plan put in place by the government enters into a desire to reduce drastically its carbon emissions in the area.

According to authoritiesthe goal is to achieve 28% less in the transport sector by 2030.

During his presentation, Bercy announced: “The transport sector represents 30% of greenhouse gas emissions in France, almost half of which are linked to private vehicles.

In a context of strong momentum in electric car sales but still high unit prices, aid schemes will be better targeted, with a more ambitious socio-ecological objective”.

Greening of the French automobile fleet therefore wants signifier vehicles that emit less as well as the implementation help targeted. The aim is to encourage the population to invest in electric mobility.
