Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee: their electric launch date is known!

Iconic models, the Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee will receive a new 100% electric variant, alongside the future Recon and Wagoneer S…

Where is it? Jeep on the electrification front ? It going ! In 2022, the brand lifted the veil on its very first volt fuel model: l’Avenger. A small B-segment crossover with a mini adventurer look, but still 100% in the stylistic DNA of the brand, despite a big technological shift. Hailed by critics, he was even elected European Car of the Year at the Brussels Motor Show, in January 2023! Since then, it has made a gradual arrival on the European market: the units allocated to France have arrived in the network, and we are already starting to see them on the road. But the future of the automobile, including Jeep, is 100% electric, and the brand is not going to stop there…

Jeep accelerates into electric

Two new products have already been announced: the Recon and the Wagoneer S. Still at the concept stage, their future is starting to become clearer… The first will be a D-segment electric 4X4, equipped according to the brand with the same off-road capabilities that made it famous. All-wheel drive with locking central differential, increased ground clearance, several driving modes adapted to different surfaces (“Jeep Selec Terrain). Autonomy? Approximately 450-500 kilometers. The second, much more SUV type, will come compete with the Range Rover Velar: same softened design, same sporty look, without any off-road pretensions. We are waiting for the Wagoneer S has a range more around 600 kilometers, or even beyond. But what about its historic models: Wrangler and Grand Cherokee? It becomes clearer…

700 kilometers and 600 horsepower for the electric Wrangler

After weeks of strikes in the United States, Stellantis (of which Jeep is a part) managed to reach an agreement with the UAW, the automobile union responsible for shutting down many of the group’s factories. The opportunity for the brand to start saying a little more about the launch dates of these two models in electric version. It will be in 2027 for the Grand Cherokee, and not before 2028 for the Wrangler! This will be based on the STLA Large platform, and should carry a 101 kWh battery, for a range of up to up to 700 kilometers. On the engine side, according to initial information, we expect power levels of up to up to 600 horsepower! Secondly, a version with a thermal range extender will arrive in the range. You still have (plenty) time to buy a thermal Wrangler ultimately.
