Stellantis is revamping its entire fleet of family MPVs, making each distinct from the others. The touch of each brand is evident on board as well…
Not one, not two, but four at once! Stellantis took advantage of the start of November to present refreshed versions of its family MPVs. Le Peugeot Rifter, the Citroën Berlingo, and the Opel Combo Life are getting a facelift, aligning with the latest stylistic innovations from their respective brands. At Fiat, the Doblo, which is only available in a combi version here, also benefits from this, albeit in a more subtle way due to being the latest arrival in the galaxy (2022). Thus, the Rifter is entitled to “scratched” projectors, the Combo Life with the Visor grilles, and the Berlingo with the new Citroën logo. They remain offered in two wheelbase lengths: 4.40 m and 4.75 m and in optional seven-seater configuration (excluding Doblo, therefore).
On board, they receive an updated multimedia system, personified in a 10-inch central touch screen, as opposed to the 8-inch screens in the current versions. In terms of connectivity, there is the introduction of a 230V socket, two USB-C sockets, and one USB-A socket. Regarding driving aids, active cruise control appears, as well as a high definition reversing camera. They all share the same dashboard, except at Peugeot where the well-known in-house “i-Cockpit” architecture offers a small steering wheel and speedometers located high up. Citroën, faithful to its philosophy of queen of comfort, is integrating its “Advanced Comfort” seats for the first time on the Berlingo for better support and increased benefits.
Under the hood, few changes: they are only available with a 100% electric 136 horsepower engine, gaining around forty kilometers of autonomy! The current figures are 320 kilometers. This is still below the needs of a large family interested in this type of vehicle. Their great rival Renault Kangoo did twice as well as them in terms of sales, as it has not turned its back on diesel engines. The arrival of a heat pump should still allow them to maintain reasonable levels even in cold weather, but will this be enough? All that remains now is to know their final prices…
