The solution to prevent your motorcycle from falling when stationary

Japanese and Indian brands are developing technology to stabilize your motorcycle using AI.

Putting your foot on the ground while on a motorbike to remain stable will no longer be an obligation in the future. This is the latest innovation from manufacturers, who aim to make two-wheelers stay upright even when they are moving slowly or completely stationary. Ideally, this would allow riders to no longer need to use the kickstand and avoid putting a foot down to maintain the balance of the machine.

Artificial Intelligence at the service of motorcycles

Seeing a motorcycle stand on its own, without a stand, will be part of the landscape in the coming years if a prototype from Yamaha is to be believed. How will this system work? Thanks to gyroscopes and moving masses guided by algorithms powered by artificial intelligence.

More concretely, you will no longer need to put your foot down at a stop sign or at a red light or to drop someone off. When riding slowly, the technology will also assist you in reducing any risk of falling.

Reinforced security and balance

This new technology was the center of attention during the Japan Mobility Show 2023. More precisely, it was on the Motoroid2 model that the own Active Center of Gravity Control System (AMCES) was discovered. It allows you to manage the self-balancing of the Yamaha motorcycle. What is also obvious is the absence of handlebars, replaced by two handles placed on each side of the machine.

As for its competitor Honda, intelligent weight distribution is also an increasing objective. You must know that these systems can be activated and deactivated as you see fit.

Even if these are only prototypes for the moment, there is no doubt that this technology will appear commercially soon. On the side of Indian manufacturers, we are also active. Liger Mobility wants to market next year a scooter with technology called AutoBalancing. It allows you to maintain balance thanks to a system operating at low speed… and when stationary! The idea is making its way to the four corners of the globe, it remains to be seen who will release it first on a commercialized model.
