The Jeep Wrangler has been freshly restyled and is now only available in France with a 4xe plug-in hybrid engine. The price has finally been revealed!
Land Rover has its Defender, Jeep has its Wrangler. A true Crossing 4X4, comfortable everywhere, agile and compact, the Wrangler has inherited everything that made the original Jeep of the Second World War so successful. Whether we call it Wrangler or simply Jeep, it faithfully embodies the philosophy of its distant ancestor, now engraved in the history of the automobile industry. Available in two or four doors, 4, 5 or 7 seats, in gasoline, diesel and now in plug-in hybrid, this vehicle has continued to evolve without losing its original appearance and off-road capabilities that made it famous…
The fourth generation of the Wrangler (which succeeded the Jeep CJ in 1986) was launched in 2018. It remains faithful to its circular headlights, its characteristic “boxy” silhouette, and its exaggeratedly high ground clearance. Since 1986, it has sold more than 5 million Wranglers worldwide! A few months ago, Jeep presented the restyled version of this Wrangler, 5 years after its arrival on the market. Good news! Its orders are now open, it is configurable online, and we now know its starting price, which is quite high for us.
Why is it so expensive? Because in France, only the 4xe plug-in hybrid version is available in the catalog, due to the ecological penalty that would have increased the selling price of the petrol and diesel versions. Therefore, we must settle for the plug-in hybrid unit which develops a combined power of 380 horsepower and is coupled to a battery allowing 51 kilometers all-electric. It’s not much, but excluding the tax incentive, we know that those who want to buy a Wrangler don’t care about its electric part. So, how much does it cost? Expect €80,700 for the Overland finish with a fixed roof, and €81,200 for the Rubicon finish with its hard–top. Assembled in the United States, it is already available for demonstration in the Jeep network.
