Tesla’s Supercharger will make life easier for electric car owners

Sales of electric cars continue to gain momentum, with their market share now exceeding 20% in Europe. More zero-emission models are being sold than diesel on the Old Continent, and this trend is expected to continue. However, some barriers for motorists still exist, particularly regarding recharging. Many are concerned about not finding a terminal, while others fear having to wait too long.

A new agreement

Fortunately, the number of charging stations has been steadily increasing for several years, both in France and abroad, which should reassure those concerned about running out of battery. In addition, oil giant EG has partnered with Tesla to offer more charging stations. They have purchased Superchargers and will install them in strategic locations in the UK and Europe. These terminals, supplied by the manufacturer, will operate in the same way as Tesla’s own charging stations.

Open to all

Good news for electric car drivers, as fast charging stations, which currently go up to 250 kW, will be open to all electric cars, provided they are compatible. Drivers will also be able to take advantage of the Plug & Charge function, allowing them to start charging the vehicle without needing to first identify themselves with a card or badge. The first terminals are expected to be put into service by the end of the year, and the charging price has not been announced.
