Be careful, the highways managed by Vinci could cost more

Vinci Autoroutes is threatening to increase the price of its tolls in response to the tax announced by the government.

In addition to the price of fuel, insurance and even maintenance, the price of highways has also increased considerably in recent years. And this is even more the case since February, since tolls have increased on average 4.75% throughout France. But what is the reason for this sudden increase, never seen before? Well, you should know that the companies in charge of highway management have the right to increase their rates for their customers each year, and can pass on up to 70% of the inflation rate. And they don’t hesitate to do it!

Another increase?

Increases justified in several ways, and in particular by the work necessary for maintenance infrastructures. But while we can still expect a strong increase next year, one company in particular wants to go even further. This is Vinci Autoroutes. The company in fact refuses the implementation of the 4.6% tax on the profits of motorway companies and threatens to increase the price of tolls to compensate for the latter. An increase of 5% would then be considered.

A measure criticized

The general director of Vinci, Pierre Coppey recently spoke out about this tax. He explains that “itIt is therefore a bad idea that we contest and that we will contest by all means if the government does not give up on it or if Parliament persists in voting for this project. This will be played out in the field of administrative justice, constitutional justice and, where applicable, European justice, but perhaps we will find a solution before“. To be continued !
