New Chinese car manufacturers are about to arrive on the European market: Exlantix, Jaecoo and even Omoda, brands of the Chery group.
This may not have escaped you: in recent years we have observed a rush towards Europe of Chinese manufacturers, who are taking advantage of the rise of electric cars to carve out a place for themselves on the Old Continent. These include Aiways, BYD, Geely, Leapmotor, Lynk & Co, Nio, Ora, Seres, Wey, XPeng, Zeekr, without forgetting MG, acquired by the Chinese group SAIC, and which represented more than half of Chinese sales in Europe. last year.
And this trend is far from stopping. Even though the name may not mean anything to you, Chery Automobiles is one of the largest Chinese automobile manufacturers, which was founded in 1997. Chery is preparing to launch in Europe no less than three new brands automobiles : Exlantix, Jackor Omodawith launches of new SUV models occurring over the next two years.
The Chinese manufacturer is indeed preparing the arrival of its brands Jaecoo and Omoda in the main European markets, including France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom. Chery is also preparing the arrival of a brand new brand: Exlantixentirely dedicated to electric cars, and which should arrive by early 2025 in Europe.
For their part, the Jaecoo and Omoda brands are preparing to each launch a range of three SUV models in Europe, by the end of 2025. These two manufacturers will offer 100% electric cars, but also models thermal and hybrid.
The first model to land in Europe will be the Omoda 5, an SUV offered in an electric version in England, and in a thermal version in Spain, then launched in Germany in thermal and electric versions in April 2024, at prices which would be around €30,000. No date has yet been announced for France, especially since the new ecological bonus risks excluding most Chinese manufacturers.
Nothing to worry about Chery, which is also not afraid of a possible imposition of customs duties on electric vehicles imported from China. Indeed, the Chinese automobile giant already firmly believes in the success of its three brands on the Old Continent, and is even considering setting up there!
Indeed, a Chery group production plant could well see the light of day in Europe in the coming years, even if nothing has yet been announced at the moment. At present, we do not yet know whether the Chinese company was going to build a new factory in Europe, or take over the facilities of a manufacturer already established in our region. Outside of China, Chery already has 10 production plants located around the world.
