Free parking for electric cars: until when?

This is one of the privileges of electric car owners in certain cities: free on-street parking. But be careful, this system does not apply to all cities, even if many town halls have chosen to “encourage” in their own way the energy transition at this level thanks to this small advantage which, in certain municipalities, is far from ‘be negligible.

But like the ecological bonus, this “privilege” will only last for a while. Indeed, several cities have chosen to backtrack on free parking for electric carsa decision which is obviously explained by the proliferation of these models on our roads.

This year, in the first half of the year, nearly 140,000 electric cars were registered in France from January to June, an increase of 15.3% compared to 2022 and 15.5% market share.

In cities like Cannes, Nice, Reims and even Valence, parking for electric vehicles is also free for a few hours, from one to three in general, while municipalities like Levallois-Perret, Neuilly-sur-Seine and Toulouse offer parking. free for residents.

Some cities still welcome electric cars, or even PHEVs, with open arms, with total free access, such as Bourges (18), Cagnes-sur-Mer (06), Châlons-en-Champagne (51), Cherbourg-en-Cotentin (50). ), Conflans-Sainte-Honorine (78), Courbevoie (92) and La Roche-sur-Yon (85).

As for the cities which have returned to free parking for electric cars, we include Charleville-Mézières (08), Caen (14), Montbéliard (25), Roanne (42), Rouen (76) and Tours (37).

These cities should be followed by others next year, then the years after that. This privilege will only last for a while, while users of electric cars still take advantage of it while they can!
