And 7! The freshly restyled Stellantis large van is now also available at Toyota. Here is the new ProAce Max, technical cousin of the Peugeot Boxer, Citroën Jumper and Fiat Ducato…
You thought you had seen it all cloning of utility vehicles at Stellantis? Well no, since a new thief has now arrived: the Toyota ProAce Max. It shares its silhouette and its features with its cousins at Peugeot, Citroën, Opel, Fiat, Vauxhall, and even RAM (in North America only). The project had been known for a long time, Toyota wanted to expand its range of utility vehicles in Europe, by partnering with the Franco-Italian-American group once again. The current ones ProaAce City et ProAce are in fact already derived from the small and medium Stellantis vans, equivalent at Peugeot for example to the Partner and Expert. This new model therefore does not come out of nowhere, and comes complementing the Toyota Professional range in Europe.
If you already knew the Peugeot Boxer and Citroën Jumper, then this new model should be familiar to you. It’s simple, it’s a 100% true copy! We cannot say that Toyota has appropriated it very much, unlike the latest restylings carried out at Citroën, Peugeot and Opel. It is as sad and unpersonal as the latest restyled Fiat Ducato: pragmatic, but without real emotions. Of course, we’re talking about a utility, but still. It is available in France in two wheelbase lengths, three length variants and three height variants. Its cargo space, accessible at the rear via two hinged doors that open 270 degrees, offers up to 17 m3 loading volume.
Specificity of this new large van (the very first at Toyota), it will only be available with a 100% electric engine. Its 110 kWh battery allows theoretical autonomy of 420 kilometers, and powers a 270 horsepower engine offering 400 Nm of torque. Allow 55 minutes to recharge it on a fast charger, with a peak power of 150 kW. No photo of its interior has yet been revealed, and we still do not know how its range will be structured. Toyota announces in any case single or double cab “chassis” versions. It should be assembled in the SEVEL Sud factory in Val di Sangro in Italy, like its cousins at Stellantis. His arrival is scheduled for next year.
