BMW: new rims with central nut

Last year, the German firm lifted the veil on the special edition BMW 3.0 CSL, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the BMW M division: the model, sold in a limited edition of 50 units, was equipped with BMW M Performance rims with center nutpaying tribute to the world of competition.

From now on, these BMW M Performance rims with central nut are now available for sale within the catalogue du programme Original BMW Accessories : they can be ordered for BMW M2 CoupeTHE BMW M3 Sedan and Touringas well as BMW M4 Coupe and Convertible.

Center-lock rims from BMW M Performance

Baptized Centrelock, center nut rims were initially developed for use in competition and motorsport: thanks to their simplicity, they allow faster wheel changes, which reduces pit stop time. In fact, replacing the four or five screws that are usually found, each rim is fixed to the wheel hub thanks to a single central screw.

To ensure solid assembly and holding, a torque of 930 Nm is applied to this single screw during tightening. This particularity pays homage to automobile racing, but it also has another advantage: that of reduce rotating masseswhile offering a unique design.

Now available as an accessory, M Performance center lock wheels are offered on the BMW M2, BMW M3 and BMW M4 models, with diameters of 19 inches for the front axle and 20 inches for the rear axle. These lightweight forged wheels feature Y-shaped spokes, painted in a matt Jet Black color, and feature “M Performance” engraving. They are mounted on 275/35 ZR19 tires at the front and 285/30 ZR20 at the rear.

A tribute to the world of motorsport

In addition to Centrelock wheels, the BMW M Performance Parts range offers many other accessories inspired by the world of motorsportsuch as equipment related to suspension, transmission, aerodynamics or even the cockpit.

For example, we find the M Performance suspension with height-adjustable springs, the M Performance sports braking system, or even BMW M Performance carbon elements, mainly made of CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic). Model-specific body parts, such as the M Performance carbon front spoiler, the M Performance rear diffuser or the M Performance carbon side sill insert, also provide a sportier look.

Inside, the BMW M Performance Parts catalog also offers elements in carbon and Alcantara, inspired by motorsport: for example, we find Alcantara knee reinforcements, the M Performance Pro steering wheel, or even the M Performance Alcantara armrest.
