BYD Sea Lion: all the information on the Tesla Model Y rival

More and more Chinese manufacturers want to try their luck on the European market, that’s a fact. Among them, we can notably cite MG, which is doing very well, as well as BYD, Nio and even Xpeng, not to mention the others who will arrive a little later in the coming years. Their goal ? To make a good place for themselves here, which does not really please the European Union which is doing everything to put obstacles in their way in order to protect its own industry. Which does not prevent the invasion from developing more and more.

A new SUV

At BYD, for example, the pace of launching new products is particularly high. Thus, the Chinese manufacturer, which notably markets the Dolphin here, has just lifted the veil on its new Sea Lion at the Guangzhou show in China. The latter takes the form of an electric SUV displaying a generous length of 4.83 meters and 1.93 meters wide. Enough to compete head-on with the Tesla Model Y, among others. On board, the presentation should remain close to what the manufacturer had already shown us on other models in the range, while the wheelbase is displayed at 2.93 meters.

A favorable price

For the moment, we do not know the power of the electric SUV, which will be based on the e-platform 3.0 from Seal, among others. It should also receive a CTB (cell to body) battery, the capacity of which has not yet been revealed. It will then cost around 200,000 yuan, the equivalent of 25,471 euros, to buy a copy. A price which should however increase when it arrives on the Old Continent. No date has been announced yet.
