Parking prices on the rise in Paris: more than 800,000 SUVs affected

More than a million cars

After organizing a large citizen vote to ban electric scooters in Paris, the city councilor aims to do the same for cars. While there is no ban on the agenda at the moment, the Paris town hall wishes to significantly increase the price of parking for SUVs, which it accuses of causing many problems. This measure was poorly received by motorists, but that doesn’t stop Anne Hidalgo from persisting. The ultimate goal is to ban 4X4s and other heavy models from the city’s streets, despite the high number of them.

A high number

According to figures from the AAA Data firm, this measure would affect no less than 892,336 cars, or 1 in 6 vehicles in Île-de-France. This is why it has been difficult to implement. Especially since the price of parking is already very high in the capital, at a rate of 6 euros per hour in the central districts. This measure would also affect electric cars, amounting to no less than 18,982 cars, which represents 15.5% of the Ile-de-France electric fleet.
