The Élysée Palace gets two new scooters

Contrary to popular belief, the vehicle fleet at the Élysée Palace includes more than just cars, vans, and large motorcycles. For urban commuting for certain employees, the Élysée has opted for scooters and what could be better than French-made machines for that?

Although these models bear the Peugeot Motocycles stamp, the brand is majority-owned by the German fund Mutares and has a minority stake held by the Indian giant Mahindra.

Two scooters made in France for the Élysée

Peugeot Motocycles still maintains ties to France, partly because of its name, and also because the Mandeure factory in Doubs is still in operation and serves as the brand’s headquarters.

The two models that will be part of the Élysée fleet are also manufactured in France. They are the new XP400 GT maxi-scooter and the Peugeot Metropolis SW three-wheeler.

Like almost all models in the Élysée fleet, these scooters have been slightly modified. Both models come in a “Sideral Mat Black” color which features the French flag on each side of the grille. Our two protagonists also come with a 55-liter Shad aluminum top case, crash bars, and fog lights.

The Metropolis is a bit more practical with a carrying capacity of 76 liters thanks to two trunks, one located under the saddle and the other behind. The two can work together to accommodate large items.

Emmanuel Macron soon “in Y”?

The models are equipped with the same engine, the 400 cm PowerMotion³ entirely designed and assembled in France, which produces 35.6 hp of power and 38.1 Nm of torque.

Obviously, the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron will probably not use these vehicles for his daily trips, but perhaps he will allow himself a few quick spins in the Élysée courtyard away from the cameras for fun!
