The Gendarmerie renews part of its fleet

The mobile gendarmerie squadrons will soon be equipped with the latest Iveco Daily 4X4s, which will replace certain already aging models.

In France, the intervention vehicles of the police and gendarmerie services are chosen following a long call for tenders with French manufacturers. The State seeks to respect a certain parity, so that our three general manufacturers (Renault, Peugeot, Citroën) are represented within their fleets. Thus, the last major call for tenders to date, which was accompanied by a total overhaul of the appearance of the vehicles, had satisfied everyone, or almost. Peugeot has seen its 5008 equip the police and gendarmerie services, Renault its Scénic at the police and Citroën its C5 Aircross at certain branches of the Gendarmerie.

Foreign models too

And even other brands, more confidential: it’s the Alpine A110, which equips the Gendarmerie’s rapid intervention teams (ERI) ! As for DS Automobiles, the DS7 is one of the official cars of the Presidency of the Republic (we remember the recent descent of the Champs-Elysées between Emmanuel Macron and King Charles III! Yes, there is indeed Bugatti, the last of the French brands, which did not have state honorsbut we can easily understand why… In certain cases, it happened that certain brigades were equipped with foreign models: Ford C-Max et Focus, Skoda Octavia for example, still in circulation in several police stations. Yes, there is also Iveco Daily, in the Gendarmerie.

New Ivecos for intervention platoons

They equip the mobile gendarmerie squadronsyou know these are these big 4X4 vans which we often see parked near large demonstrations and events. They have been part of the landscape for a while now: they had gradually replaced early 2000 the Renault Master 4X4 first generation! Today the Gendarmerie announced soon renew a good part of its Daily with more recent models : behemoths weighing more than 4 tonnes, developing 180 horsepower (still in all-wheel drive), but better equipped. 360 camera, latest generation rotating lights, and more cargo space in particular: they will be roughly similar to those we see today, but will feature new screen prints. The bodybuilder Gruau will take care of the transformation of the series Daily: 345 were ordered in total.
