The Grandland X Open is the subject of a massive recall!

Opel is recalling more than 2,000 examples of its Grandland X due to a significant risk of corrosion. We will explain everything to you.

THE recall campaigns, does that remind you of something ? These are initiatives organized by manufacturers, who recall one or more models due to a serious problem. The latter can then endanger the occupants of the vehicle or other road users, but it can also damage the car itself. In all cases, the process is the same, and the car must be repaired in a brand workshop, at the latter’s expense of course. And no manufacturer is spared, even the most high-end. But today, it is Opel which is concerned by this type of campaign.

A risk of corrosion

But then, what’s the problem? Well, it is the Grandland X which is the subject of a vast recall campaign, for a problem which may seem trivial but which is in fact not at all. And for good reason, the SUV, leaking from the collaboration with the former PSA group, has a concern related to corrosion. The manufacturer explains that water can infiltrate between the compartment containing the traction battery and the latter’s reinforcement. The rust protection normally applied to this location would actually be insufficient. And this could cause a risk of rust, or even the battery catching fire in the worst case.

A vast reminder

Suffice to say that owners have every interest in going to a workshop to have their car repaired. At least 2,381 copies would be affected in France, having been produced between July 2, 2019 and January 27, 2023. The mechanics will simply apply an anti-corrosion product to the area concerned, which should not mobilize the car for too long. Of course, all this is done at the manufacturer’s expense, without having to advance the money.
