The Subaru Forester, which was discontinued in France due to the ecological penalty, continues to be available in other markets, including Belgium. It has now undergone a restyling that gives it a more distinctive look.
The Forester is one of Subaru’s best-selling models, alongside the Impreza, and has helped the Japanese brand gain market share worldwide. Its first generation, featuring a flat engine and all-wheel drive, made it a popular choice for customers seeking a compact and comfortable model suitable for off-road driving and rough road conditions (similar to its rival, the Suzuki Vitara). Unfortunately, the Forester is no longer sold in France due to the ecological penalty related to its Boxer engine. However, it is still available in Belgium.
The restyled Forester has been modernized in terms of style and equipment. Its silhouette has been softened with more geometric lines, and its headlights and rear lights have been redesigned to enhance its appearance. Inside, there are subtle changes to the dashboard design, and new features have been added, such as an 11.6-inch central touch screen, a 360° camera, ventilated front seats, and emergency braking assistance.
The Forester retains its 2.5L flat 4-cylinder engine, delivering 180 horsepower, and is equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that has improved soundproofing. Subaru has made modifications to the suspension and shock absorber settings, and will introduce a hybrid engine and a more adventurous version in the future. The restyled Forester will be available from spring 2024, with the new hybrid engine and the Wilderness version to follow.
