Lucid Motors, the American electric car manufacturer, is launching its first SUV called the Gravity, which is a 7-seater model with over 800 horsepower!
Considered as the most formidable competitor to Tesla, Lucid Motors aims to develop high-end and exclusive 100% electric cars. The Air sedan, produced since 2021, is an example of this pursuit. With its sleek design, range of over 800 kilometers, and advanced level 4 autonomous driving system (Dream Drive Pro), the brand’s first model competes against Tesla’s Model S. Recognizing the growing importance of SUVs in today’s market, the company introduced the Gravity to compete in this popular category.
Unveiled at the Los Angeles Motor Show, the Gravity is a full-size SUV targeting the Tesla Model X, Rivian R1T, and Cadillac Escalade iQ. Its fluid silhouette and refined, sporty style are based on the in-house LEAP platform that maximizes habitability and loading volume. It can accommodate 7 people and up to 3,172 liters of luggage when the rear seats are folded. The front trunk is designed for two stationary passengers, which is an interesting, albeit unusual, feature.
The Gravity’s dashboard and speedometers resemble Peugeot’s i-Cockpit design. It features a small diameter steering wheel and a large 12.3-inch screen at the center of the cabin. Technically, the electric motors of the Gravity are expected to offer up to 800 hp peak power and a range of up to 708 kilometers. With a 900 V architecture, it allows charging powers of up to 300 kW. The anticipated release is 2024 in the United States and Gulf countries, with a starting price of $80,000.
