After the presentation of the new generation of the Peugeot 3008, it will be the turn of its technical cousin, the future Opel Grandland, to be revealed.
Eclipsed in France by the success of the Peugeot 3008, the Opel Grandland has still had an honorable career in Europe, with nearly 300,000 units assembled since its presentation at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2017.
Available in both diesel and gasoline, and even in plug-in hybrid since phase 2, the Opel Grandland will, unsurprisingly, soon be renewed, even if, in France, the shadow of 3008 will always hover above its roof.
The second generation of the German SUV is expected to be presented in the second half of 2024. The car will be produced at the Stellantis factory in Eisenach, Germany, and it will, unsurprisingly, be based on the new STLA Medium platform which, as we know, will be used for a large number of future models from the Stellantis group.
Also among them are the new Lancia Gamma and the new Jeep Compass. Technical cousin of Peugeot 3008the Grandland will use the engines, with the same power levels and similar ranges for the electric versions.
So, at launch, three 100% electric engines should be offered. If we base ourselves on what was announced on the 3008, here is what we find on the future Opel SUV: Autonomy (210 horsepower and 525 km of autonomy), Dual Motor (320 horsepower and 525 km of autonomy). autonomy), and Great Autonomy (230 horsepower and 700 km of autonomy).
The 400 V NMC battery (73 or 98 kWh depending on the version) will be compatible with ultra-fast charging of 160 kWwhich allows 80% capacity to be recovered in 30 minutes.
Hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines will also complete the catalog when it is launched, as well as a thermal engine. It remains to be seen whether the latter will be offered in France.
In terms of style, the new Opel Grandland will incorporate a new front end with a revisited Vizor grille. Its design should have many elements in common with the recent Opel Experimental concept car presented by the manufacturer at the last Munich Motor Show.
