Electric cars: get around the law legally with this loophole

Electric cars have seen a decrease in prices in recent years, but they still remain relatively expensive compared to their traditional counterparts. However, this is expected to change over time. As a result, not everyone can afford a zero-emission vehicle at the moment. To address this issue, the government has implemented various assistance measures, including the well-known ecological bonus. For those who qualify, the bonus is capped at 7,000 euros for modest drivers and 56,000 euros for others.

A key detail to consider

To qualify for the bonus, the purchase price of the electric car must not exceed 47,000 euros. It was previously believed that this amount included additional features and technological equipment, but it’s actually based on the base price of the car without any add-ons, as reported by BFM TV.

An important update

The ministerial decree of December 4, 2022, clarified that the cost of acquiring an electric car for eligibility and determining the bonus amount does not include non-intrinsic equipment such as options. So, if you want to take advantage of the bonus, don’t hesitate to add on some extra features! Additionally, if you’ve already purchased an electric car without the bonus but it turns out to be eligible, you can still apply for the bonus within six months of the purchase.
