Smart #1: the entry-level version is arriving in France, is it a good deal?

When the Smart #1 was launched in France, it started at 39,990 euros, excluding the ecological bonus of 6,000 euros until the end of 2022. However, the price has now increased, with the basic Pro+ version starting at 41 315 euros, excluding the ecological bonus of 5,000 euros until the end of 2023.

Despite the price increase, the Smart #1 still competes well with other premium electric SUVs, but the manufacturer also aims to compete with slightly less high-end models that do not necessarily fit within its market.

Targeting the Fiat 600e?

Smart now offers a Pro version starting from 36 315 euros, still excluding the 5,000 euro bonus until the end of 2023. This version competes with the new Fiat 600e (starting from 35,900 euros).

Although the Smart #1 is considered high-end in terms of battery and autonomy, the situation changes with a 49 kWh battery (compared to 66 kWh on the Pro+ version) and a range of 310 km, reduced from 440 km on the top finish model. The Fiat 600e also outperforms in this regard, with a 54 kWh battery and a 400 km range on a single charge.

Advantages of the Smart #1 entry-level

Despite lower autonomy, the Sino-German SUV boasts a powerful 272 hp and a charging power of 130 kW, which is higher than the Fiat 600e’s 100 kW. The standard equipment also includes a panoramic roof, a 360° camera, and a level 2 semi-autonomous driving system.
