The Toyota Yaris Cross receives a technical update

The Toyota Yaris Cross, the most produced model in France, is now expanding its offering with a new engine and some on-board technologies.

This is a trend that we are seeing more and more in our country: individuals who opt for non-rechargeable hybrid engines, also called “Full Hybrid”. A pioneer of this technology, which it introduced on the Prius in 1997, Toyota now offers it on most of its models, where it often replaces gasoline! This is the case of the Yaris Cross which was launched among some of our neighbors with a small 125 hp gasoline engine at entry level, but remained confined to the hybrid in France! Today it is offering a mid-career update, which further extends its hybrid offering, with the introduction of a second engine.

A second hybrid engine

In fact, it is a more powerful version of the 116 hp 1.5 liter hybrid already in the catalog. With 132 chthis second version soberly named “Hybrid 130” gains in torque (+30%, or from 141 to 185 Nm) and in performance (half a second saved from 0 to 100 km/h). The Hybrid 130 engine will equip the high-end finishes, including the new Premiere Edition and GR Sport. The Hybrid 115 will be standard at entry level for prices still unknown. For this 2024 edition of the Yaris Cross, the driving assistance pack is further strengthened. Just like the insulation, according to the manufacturer.

More technological and connected

We also note the arrival of a customizable digital dashboard, very in tune with the times. The most connected among you will also appreciate the possibility of opting for a digital key via your smartphone. This can be used to lock, unlock and start the vehicle, without the user having to take their phone out of their bag or pocket. The key is compatible with Apple and Android devices and comes standard on the Premiere edition. But be careful, because only one year of connection is included in the purchase price of the car. To operate this digital key, your smartphone must be connected to Toyota’s MyT app. Some subtle changes therefore, which we will be able to observe when the model arrives, in the second quarter of 2024.
