Theft: Lidl customer tries to flee in a van with a full trolley

A surprising theft attempt took place in a Lidl in Gard. An individual tried to load an entire shopping cart into his van!

A mind-blowing scene was filmed in the parking lot of a Lidl. As reported The Midday Awakening, one of the customers of this supermarket chain tried to steal products from a store. Most of the time, thieves seek discretion, for example by hiding food under their clothes. But he adopted an unconventional strategy.

This man actually fled the store with a whole shopping cart. His act could already hardly go unnoticed. Moreover, he was quickly caught up by two Lidl employees and a witness had plenty of time to film the scene. The thief had parked a van in the store’s parking lot. And he planned to escape with the groceries in this vehicle. But his plan only half worked…

A surprising theft attempt in the Lidl in Sommières

The attempted theft took place in the Lidl of Sommières, a commune in Gard. As the video shows, the thief did not attempt to unload the shopping cart into the trunk of his pickup truck. Instead he tried to load the entire shopping cart in his vehicle, with the groceries inside. He certainly thought this method would save him time.

However, he did not consider the possibility that he would not be able to fit such a load in the trunk of his van. When he was almost there, two Lidl employees ran to intervene. The individual did not even have time to close your trunk completely. He hurried to get into his vehicle and start it.

A courageous intervention by two employees

The two employees of the Lidl in Sommières failed to arrest the individual. After one of them managed to hold him for a few seconds, he finally turned on the engine of his van and fled. But before fleeing, the second employee was able to open her trunk and remove the shopping cart. In the rush she let it go ground races.

Unfortunately, the other Lidl employee found himself stuck in the van when the individual fled. He traveled a few meters with the vehicle. He ended up falling heavily in the parking lot. The video does not show whether he was injured in his fall. We also don’t know what happened to the driver. However, it is very likely that the police station or after him.
