The dog spots the species

Posted on the A63, customs agents spotted a car with an Albanian couple inside. The two individuals say they are arriving from Germany and going to Madrid for a great getaway. The loot is in the trunk

The hiding place seemed ideal, but she was spotted by customs officers. It is actually a metal plate placed in the bottom of the trunk, cut using a grinder. Inside, it could hold several wads of cash, in pockets, filled with banknotes. In total, there are no less than 340,000 euros which were discovered in denominations of 50 and 20 euros, mainly.
You should know that if you are carrying a sum equal to or greater than 50,000 euros, you must provide a document attesting to the origin of the money.
If you don’t do this, you expose yourself to a legal sanction.

In all likelihood, this money would come from drug trafficking. The specialized interregional jurisdiction of Bordeaux transferred the investigation to the judicial financial investigation service and to the anti-narcotics office of the Bayonne judicial police.

Accused of money laundering, the couple was placed in pre-trial detention. The concealment or conversion of the direct or indirect proceeds of a crime or misdemeanor is considered money laundering and punishable by 5 years of imprisonment and a fine of 375,000 euros. Case to be continued for this Albanian couple during their upcoming trial.
