The first Ford Mustang sold for a crazy amount, but for a good cause

The European market is now welcoming the seventh generation of Ford Mustang, available in GT or the more radical Dark Horse version. The very first example of this model was sold for a whopping sum in the United States, a common occurrence for Ford…

It is quite significant that the first Ford Mustang Dark Horse was auctioned off for $375,000 !

Celebrating 60 years with the seventh generation

This amount is staggering, especially when compared to the normal price of $60,000 in the manufacturer’s new catalog… but Ford is no stranger to this and regularly organizes such prize pools for its “0” models. For instance, the first Bronco was sold for $1.1 million! The manufacturer leverages the symbolic value of the first model to drive up auction prices, yet it is all for a good cause. The $375,000 from the first Black Horse Mustang will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) to support research into Type 1 diabetes, a noble cause. This latest generation of Mustang was unveiled to the public for the first time on September 14, 2022 at the Detroit Auto Show. It stays true to its legendary large 5-liter V8 engine. It now produces 446 horsepower and can be paired with a six-speed manual transmission or a 10-speed automatic gearbox. It is now available on the American and European market, just in time to celebrate 60 years of the line, as the very first generation of Ford Mustang was launched in 1964!

What is “Dark Horse”?

A more extreme version in terms of presentation and performance is also available: the Dark Horse. This version increases the V8 power to 453 horsepower and comes with many distinctive elements, including shields, more enveloping side skirts, and a fixed rear spoiler. It also has specific badges and, on the technical side, the standard Performance Pack allows for specific chassis settings, stiffer anti-roll bars, reinforced shock absorbers, an even more efficient Brembo braking system, and Pirelli P Zero PZ4 track tires. This is quite promising! This Mustang also embraces digitalization, especially evident on the interior with its two large screens: a 12.4” instrument cluster and a 13.2” SYNC4 multimedia control screen. Due to environmental regulations, it is currently not offered in France (you may need to look at the parallel importers), but orders are now open from our German neighbors! Prices in Germany start at €59,900 for the GT coupe with manual transmission and €65,000 for the convertible, also available for ordering.

For the Dark Horse version, however, it will cost €72,500…
