Mini: the manufacturer’s future electric models

Aceman, Cabrio, SUV coupe: Mini will continue to expand its range of electric models in the coming years, while 2024 will mark the first full year of the electric Hatch and Countryman…

What does Mini have in store for us in the way of new electric products in the coming years? Let’s do a check in.

Hatch and Countryman: Mini is seriously electrifying

Mini accelerates into electric! After the first generation of Hatch (the name given to the “Mini Mini”) fueled by volts and called Cooper SE, the British brand launched its first real 100% electric Mini with great fanfare in 2023, designed and designed above all to accommodate this type of engine. It is available with two engines and two battery sizes: the Cooper E, 184 horsepower for 305 km of autonomy (233 km for the older generation) and the Cooper SE, which increases the power to 218 horsepower, and range of 402 km, thanks to a more generous 54.2 kWh battery (compared to 40.7 kWh for the Cooper E). Alongside the city car, Mini has completely renewed its Countryman crossover, which has grown significantly, and introduced 100% electric engines. Technically very close to the BMW X1, it is also available in E and SE versions. The first, with two-wheel drive, develops 204 horsepower, the second with all-wheel drive increases this figure to 313 horsepower. Endurance level, it comes down to each between 462 km (E) and 433 km (SE). On the price side, it starts at €44,000 in 2-wheel drive version, and €49,500 in the four-wheel drive version. Two new electric products in a very short time from Mini, therefore. Will the brand stop there? Oh no…

Aceman and Mini Cabrio…

Mini is already working on its future electric model, a crossover called Aceman and which will be positioned just below the new Countryman. At 4.06 meters in length, the Mini Aceman will be almost as large as the first generation Countryman (4.10 m). It can therefore replace the latter in the garage of customers who are no longer attracted by the serious overweight (4.43 m) of the new generation. The brand has already announced that it will be able to take 5 people and their luggage on board with “plenty of space on board in exterior dimensions that are as compact as possible”. But he will also and above all have the heavy responsibility of take over from the Mini 5 doors and Clubman, set to disappear from the catalog with the appearance of the new electric Mini Cooper. It will receive a 54.2 kWh battery, identical to that of the new Cooper SE. The range is not yet known, but it should logically be slightly lower than that of the compact, 402 kilometers remember. Expected at the start of 2025, the Aceman will pave the way for another novelty: the future electric Mini Cabrio which should be marketed a few months later. Unsurprisingly, it should also be offered in E and SE versions…

Other projects, finally, would be in the pipeline for Mini, and in particular an electric SUV coupe by 2026-2026, to compete with Smart #3 and the myriad of future Chinese SUVs…
