New engines in the BMW range

iX2, i5 and XM: at BMW, several models have seen their range expanded with a new engine, to offer them at a more competitive starting price…

The year has barely started, but BMW is in great shape and is already releasing new products.

The iX2 becomes accessible to the ecological bonus

A few days ago, the German manufacturer introduced its restyled Series 4 and M4. Coupés and convertibles have notably gained in style, equipment and on-board technologies, while the more radical M4 gained 20 horsepower, seeing its total power increased to 530 horsepower. BMW continues to take care of these “pleasure” models, while on the market the offer is becoming more and more scarce on coupes and convertibles, but the recent release of the new Mercedes-Benz CLE (coupe or convertible) should only reinforce him in this task. Today it’s not one, not two, but three BMW models which in turn undergo an update. First good news: the iX2 becomes accessible to the ecological bonus! Formerly a small muscular crossover, the Until now only available with 313 hp all-wheel drive (xDrive30), it now gains a new entry-level version, called eDrive20 and developing 204 horsepower (two-wheel drive), which has the merit of drastically reducing its initial price…

Also new for the i5 and XM

€46,900 is the price the BMW iX2 eDrive20 (478 km range) now costs, to compare to the €59,150 that the xDrive30 version asks for! Its prices below the symbolic threshold of €47,000, and the fact that it is assembled in Germany (Regensburg), therefore now allow it to be eligible for the French ecological bonus! This is not the only novelty that BMW has in store for us… The i5 range (100% electric 5 Series) also features a new engine, called xDrive40, which develops 394 horsepower et now slots between the eDrive40 (340 hp) and the M60 xDrive (601 hp!). With a range of 538 km, it costs at least €81,600… BMW has not stopped there, and is also tackling son grand SUV sportif XM, 100% developed by its Motorsport “M” department. It also gains an entry-level version, called e50, which is €40,600 cheaper than the version previously offered in the catalog! It is a plug-in hybrid model developing 476 horsepower, instead of the 653 horsepower requested by the core XM. The announced autonomy is 83 km in all-electric mode, thanks to a small battery with 25.7 kWh capacity. The price starts at €137,400, all the same…
