Lucid Air joins the ranks of the Saudi police

As electric cars continue to redefine the automotive landscape, an unusual new recruit is joining law enforcement in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Lucid Air appeared in a procession of police cars, adorned with an imposing siren on its roof, at the country’s World Defense Exhibition.

A distinct presence in the Saudi police

The distinctive presence of the Lucid Air police car in the Saudi law enforcement landscape represents a significant advancement in the field of public security. Featuring a recognizable black and white livery, this car is much more than just a means of transportation for police officers. It includes special features, including a drone launch platform integrated into the roof thus offering a new dimension to law enforcement operations.

The police drone can be quickly deployed with the press of a button, allowing authorities to effectively monitor hard-to-reach areas or collect crucial information during sensitive operations. This cutting-edge technology provides increased flexibility and responsiveness to Saudi law enforcement, strengthening their ability to ensure public safety.

Although details on the Lucid Air police interior layout are yet to be revealed, specific adjustments are planned to meet the operational needs of law enforcement. This could include installing additional screens and dedicated communications equipment, providing an environment suitable for the critical missions officers face.

A strategic partnership with the Saudi government

This project is part of a strategic partnership between Lucid Motors and the Saudi government. The Saudi sovereign wealth fund holds a majority stake of up to 60% in Lucid Motors, illustrating the kingdom’s strong commitment to the transition to more sustainable means of transport. An agreement between the Saudi government and Lucid provides for the potential acquisition of up to 100,000 electric vehicles over the next decade thus consolidating the massive $10 billion investment by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) in the automaker.

Lucid Motors, with its electric vehicle factory in the region, is becoming a key player in Saudi Arabia’s transition from fossil fuels to electric vehicles.

Together with local companies such as state-owned startup Ceer, a joint venture between PIF and Foxconn, Lucid will actively help shape the kingdom’s automotive and environmental landscape, marking a major step towards a more sustainable and secure future.
