Electric cars: 219 new charging points in Biarritz

Good news for the residents of Biarritz: the city in the Basque Country plans to commission 219 charging points for electric cars.

The city of Biarritz invests in charging stations

The advent of electric cars requires significant resources to enable motorists to recharge their vehicles. Little by little, the different cities of France are investing in charging stations, to allow their citizens to stock up on energy: the municipality of Biarritz will soon put 219 charging points into service on its territory.
The deployment will be carried out by e-Totem, a French company based in Saint-Étienne. By this summer 2024, 219 charging points will be available in the city of Biarritz, with 125 charging points with a power of up to 22 kW, which will allow residents to recharge and park for a longer period of time. This solution makes it possible to offer an alternative to Biarrots who do not necessarily have the possibility of accessing electric charging at their home, because they live in collective buildings for example.
For passing motorists and those in a hurry, fast charging stations of up to 150 kWwith 28 charging points, are also planned near major roads and activity areas.

The first stations already in service

Finally, around fifty charging points will be installed “on demand”: interested users will be able to submit a request for a charging station in their neighborhood, and the city of Biarritz will study each file to install new terminals where demand is greatest. stronger.
To date, seven charging stations are already in operation in Biarritz: avenue de Verdun (near the intersection with rue de Folin), impasse Larribau (Aguilera car park), avenue du Lac Marion (Hippodrome car park des Fleurs), rue du 8 mai 1945 (in front of the Malraux high school), Iraty parking lot, avenue Kennedy and rue des Hirondelles.
Thirteen stations are being installed, while thirteen more are under study, including some dedicated to fast charging. All planned charging points should be put into service by the month of June 2024.
To make the daily life of Biarrots easier, several means of payment They will be offered: bank card, smartphone application, recharge card from another mobility operator, as well as the e-Totem card, which also allows access to a network of more than 7,000 charging points in France.

The deployment of public charging stations in France continues. Emmanuel Macron has already set an ambitious objective for France: achieving the 400,000 charging stations by 2030.
