Blockage of oil depots: why are construction professionals unhappy?

Construction professionals have been protesting by blocking oil depots in France, potentially leading to a fuel shortage.

Since January 25th, the BTP professionals in France have been expressing their dissatisfaction with a specific issue regarding laugh GNR. This fuel has traditionally been used in the river, forestry, agricultural, and public works sectors. Now, the government is intending to eliminate the tax assistance previously provided for this fuel, leading to the protests by construction professionals.

A New Tax Stirring Discontent

Construction professionals are upset about a new tax on laugh GNR. This fuel, with its red color, has lower sulfur content than conventional fuel, making it environmentally cleaner. These professionals are seeking to have similar treatment as the agricultural sector regarding this tax issue.

The protests have resulted in the blockage of the country’s oil depots, with the cities of Brest and Lorient being affected. These demonstrations aim to create a filter dam for tankers to express their discontent.

The Impact and Future of the Protests

While these protests have not yet significantly impacted motorists, it remains to be seen how the situation will evolve and whether the government will address the demands of the BTP professionals. The demonstrators have indicated their willingness to continue and escalate the movement unless their demands are met.
